Q&A with James
Where is your favorite place in town to eat, and what do you get there?
I really love the Rock Creek Tavern, It’s sentimental to me because my childhood home where I grew up is actually across the street. I have many great memories there at different stages in life and actually watched it burn down in 2002 and be rebuilt. The quirky uniqueness of the place is amazing and the live music is always a good experience. My go-to is a bacon cheeseburger and fifth floor IPA.
Who is your hero, and why?
Woah – big question. My hero is always changing, I’ve had many throughout my life. At this stage I would say my hero is my future self, there’s the highest idea of how I’d like to show up in the world and how I’d like to treat people and give back to the community that I’m always striving to embody. Hopefully one day I can say my hero is me! Until then, character traits that I find heroic are conviction, fearlessness, resilience, a wide open mind, nimbleness, and the ability to love unconditionally.
What draws you to the lending industry?
When I was 22 I day dreamt about having a career where I could help people, set my own schedule, make a valuable impact, and be compensated based on results, rather than the time. What I love about the mortgage industry is it’s what you make it. DC stands for Dream Creation, by starting this business I was able to create and live my dream. When clients are on Zillow dreaming about the perfect home for their family, I’m honored to be able to help make it a reality. Building DC’s team of loan officers who are dreaming about a new career path and being able to help them achieve success is incredibly fulfilling for me. It’s more than mortgages, the lending industry allows me to help people achieve their dreams!
What does your dream Saturday look like?
My dream Saturday starts with coffee and breakfast at Longbottom with my son, Ezra, just enjoying the morning together. After that, I’d hit the gym for a good workout. The rest of the day would be spent making memories with Ezra, whether it’s exploring, playing, or just hanging out. I’d wrap up the evening with a great meal, maybe some good whiskey, and time with friends and family. Simple, but perfect.
