Q&A with Sharon

Where is your favorite place to eat?
We recently sold our home and moved to the coast of NC. Prior to our move, we lived in Raleigh, NC. Winston’s Grille is by far the best place in Raleigh, NC to have lunch or dinner. My favorite lunch item is Chicken Salad plate with fresh fruit. Now that we live on the coast, our new favorite is Sugar Shack in Ocean Isle Beach. The locally owned shack is a fantastic surprise. I cannot go there and not get Caprese Salad.

What does your dream Saturday look like?
Start my morning with a nice walk with the dogs. Come home, start my day with brunch with a few friends. After lunch we can stroll on over to the beach and hang out for most of the afternoon. Walk back home, take showers followed by me time, and later dinner and cards with friends.

What draws you to the lending industry?
Can I be honest? Since my Mom was in Real Estate, I wanted to do ANYTHING except sell houses. I went to NYC and sold Diamonds. That lasted a minute. I decided to work part-time while going to college. I went to work for a bank, and that was in 1982. I never left. I have loved almost every day of my career. I was in a few robberies and managed to continue to love banking. After 20 years of working in a branch bank environment, I decided to move to the mortgage side of banking. That was in 1999 and I am still here.

Who is your hero and why?
I have a few. My Grandfather for always having time to listen and not judge. He never offered his opinion, unless asked for. He was a kind and gentle soul, and I am blessed he is watching over me. My Mom taught me that everyone is equal. She was a strong-willed Realtor in the 70″s and beyond. She taught me to handle life head on. She showed three girls’ courage as a single mother. She rocked at it! My beautiful son will always be the light of my world. He taught me the importance of staying grounded. He was remarkable at making everyone he met feel important. He listened, he cared, and he made each person he met feel validated. I have several special spirit guides watching over me trying to keep me in line daily.
